Mac version. If additional album is added to playlist it is not automatically played when current album, in nested folder, is finished. This didn't happen in versions previous to 2.0.
Playlist is unstable and programme becomes unresponsive.

Are you really using the playlist for this? You didn't select the media library on the left? I just wondering, because the current playlist implementation is flat and therefore can't support nested folders in contrast to the ML, which supports folders..

Yes. Definitely the playlist (have never used the media library).
Have briefly tested the nightly 10/3/12 64bit build. A main folder (artist) containing sub folders (albums) dragged to playlist displays the nested folders and contents (tracks) correctly. However subsequent music folders dragged onto the playlist are still not played automatically.
This nightly VLC has not hung so far, as v2.0 release did.
Could you give us some more details how the folders look like, and what do you exactly do before VLC hangs? Perhaps you can add some screenshots or a small movie? That would be great.
Today I dragged a folder containing two albums onto the playlist and started playing. While playing, I dragged a third folder (single album) onto the play list. To my surprise all tracks of all three albums were played to completion.
I then selected all tracks using Command+A and deleted them. I then dragged a single album onto the empty playlist. All tracks were played to completion. With the final track still highlighted, I dragged a new album to the list and clicked on the Play icon.
VLC immediately crashed.
I don't recall a crash being caused as described above but if you can reproduce it then a common cause might be identified.
I will report any further issues, hopefully with more useful detail.
Could you please re-try with VLC 2.0.3? We synchronized the playlist code with the Windows/Linux interface in the meantime, which should solve this kind of issue.

I have tested 64 bit 2.0.3 a number of times and have not been able to cause it to crash (on OSX 10.6.8).
However if I drag multiple folders (one after other) to the play list and play the tracks of the first folder VLC still doesn't transition to the next folder.
@pshrutpark: I reproduced this issue a while ago (on Mac only), but failed to find a proper fix (at least, you can transition using the hotkeys / menu or button actions now). Thus, I created #8283 (closed) just for this.
