writing here due to this issue still being valid (also on android: vlc-android#1592 (closed) )
on android I'm stuck on the last VLC version that supported directory junctions in network shares: Version 3.2.12.
Now this version was compiled on 2020-04-30 - 2.5 years ago. In the meanwhile the player has progressed very much on every other aspect, but I can't upgrade to any newer version because they all haven't solved this problem yet.
Shouldn't this issue get a much higher priority after all these years?
While VLC player 3.2.12 still works, it has pretty much became outdated in every other aspect. While I was patiently waiting for fixes, it's hard to keep using an outdated VLC when players are available that have improved much more in the meantime.
Is there any solution for this? I can't use VLC with SMB1 because of persistent authentication problems (need to supply credentials after watching a few videos, always rejected) and can't use VLC with SMB2 because of this direction junction missing feature.
