I don't really see the relevance of this VLC Trac ticket to that tvheadend feature request. Even if this ticket is implemented with a native VLC plugin for HTSP input, none of the HTSP-specific protocol features would work.
And I don't think that a monster appendix should be grafted to VLC GUI and core input code just to support HTSP idiosynchrasies.
