SMB: Servers discovered twice

Some servers are discovered and shown twice depending on how it was discovered.

The path should be check in order to avoid this for 3.0.

This has apparently been fixed in 4.0.

Yes, this is because @ePirat fixed the Bonjour discovery for SMB recently.

Please note that filtering by URL will work for SMB only. For UPnP, you’ll see the same address for multiple virtual servers actually meaning different things as you can have UPnP multimedia and SAT>IP servers on the same IP.

I’d propose not to fix this for 3.3 but post-pone to the next release.

I believe having a workaround for SMB could be a good idea in order to not confuse the user further.

@fkuehne If not using the URL, how does it tell apart the UPnP servers when making the requests for browsing?

The URL exposed by VLCKit for the top level server node item is the same for the above scenario. The URLs of the children are of course different.

Hi folks! I use VLC both on iOS and Android TV and it has always been so confusing that my SMB server shows up as two entries in VLC. This is really confusing. Could someone please comment why this is happening and when this could be fixed? Thanks!

The same server is discovered twice using different means and no filtering is performed.
