VLC Media Player for FireTV (Amazon) - filenames change to numbers
-Fire OS 6.2.8.1 -FireTV Home Version 6321001.1 -FireTV Device with VLC installed: FireTV 4K "puck" version (not the stick and not the cube) -FireTV 4K's Network Connection - Wi-Fi with speed measured at 250 Mbps with Wi-Fi speed app (wireless AX3200) -Connected to pre-amp/processor via HDMI -Noticed this happening with 10-bit UHD/HDR 2160p content, but have not confirmed whether it happens with 1080p content -Using VLC to access Local Network NAS drives for music and movies -Using DLNA access to NAS drives to access the "Browse Folders" option and navigating subdirectories to get to the content I want to watch.
With playback history enabled and resume enabled for movies and TV when playing back files, VLC changes displayed filenames to long-ish numbers with the same thumbnails. Eventually, the numeric filenames seem to clear up and the original filenames return, but when I try to figure out what episode of a series I left off with, I can end up with 3 or 4 or 5 episodes that I opened to have a quick look, that now have 3 to 5 numeric filenames. Instead of something like "Big Boys s01e04 1080p.mkv" I get "782402047.xxx" (I cannot recall the filename extension that appears where the xxx is). If I disable History and resume, filenames remain correct, text filenames with no numeric filenames visible to me. If I never have to pause or stop and just watch all the way through, I never see the filename change to numeric since I never see the directory. But when I stop to do something else, upon returning to continue to watch something, I may be confronted with a numeric filename instead of the text filename.
