Improve the file browser mode

It would be useful to display metadata for artists and albums, where available in filebrowser mode, perhaps by descending into the folder and reading metadata from a file within.

VLC already shows media metadata when available.

It doesn't. You can use the media title though.

In the unlikely event that an audio file has no title meta, the filename will be used as a fallback.

Here, it does not show the title, but the filename, while this file is already in the Medialibrary

File browser -> file name

I don't think this discussion really addresses the initial request. I just re-read it (and the initial issue here.

The request is not about the metadata for the tracks but for the Artists and Albums.

So, let's say you're here:

@escondida wants the album artwork to be displayed instead of the folder icon and the metadata instead of the folder name.

I am not sure it's feasible / a good UX though.

It would be a lot of work and a lot of potential bugs for a too small benefit: nobody ever asked for it again.
