VLC YouTube Audio + Latency Issues

I've been experiencing issues with audio while playing YouTube videos in VLC lately.

The audio is usually a few milliseconds behind the video, causing the videos to not sync up with people's mouths as they speak. I've also been seeing more latency in every other video I load into my VLC.

It started happening about 10 days ago so wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this issue? I know YouTube's back-end has been messing with the youtube.lua script over the past year so wanted to raise awareness.
