Visual glitches with HLS wrong announced profile

When playing the HLS URL at [1], I get lots of visual glitches, mainly at the bottom of the window. When playing the same encoded content from an HTTP file (progressive download) at [2], no errors occur. (Video and audio streams are bit-identical, only metadata and packaging is different.) Maybe the HLS manifest is buggy, but it plays nicely in mpv and Quicktime Player.

VLC 3.0.12 on macOS 10.15.7, but exact same behavior on Linux.

Problem also exists on latest 4.0 macOS nightly from Mar 28 2021 06:11:44.
