Wrong instrument is played when using the MIDI player on certain midis

This is one of the midi files that have this issue with VLC http://www.theparticle.com/files/library/audio/doom/d_e2m1.mid

I have also tried several different soundfonts, all of which work with other MIDI players.

I am using VLC 3.0.11 Stable
