After I connect to my ftp server, the player tries to play everything it’s in there rather than letting me navigate throughout my folder structure.
I can’t explore through my folders. Seems like it behaves like a playlist but without me having the option to play what I want.

My server it's actually an external HDD sticked to my Wifi routher via USB.
I'm using a ftp connection to access files on the HDD. With prevous version I was able to navigate through the folders and pick the media file I want tot play. Now, folders are seen as playlists and VLC plays the first media file meets.
Also I'm not able use "next" and "previous" buttons to play the next media file within the same folder but I see this issue has been already reported.
The FTP server included in ubuntu by default does not support the MLST extension introduced to the ftp protocol in RFC 3659 in 2007. With the current implementation of the FTP browser, VLC cannot determine the type of the file without MLST, which explains the behavior.
