There are in fact two issues:

• We provided a drawable resource id to the home app when no thumbnail is found. This drawable has been converted to vector (a long time ago) and therefore cannot be retrieved by the Home app
• No thumbnail is generated when an un-indexed video is played and saved as an external media. This issue is now tracked here: medialibrary#349 (closed)

Should be fixed by !1092 (merged)
